Maddox is owned and operated by Tory Egerton. Originally from New York, Tory grew up following thoroughbred racing and living the horse obsessed life. At 15 she started taking riding lessons and its safe to say the rest is history. Tory attended college at SUNY Morrisville, majoring in Equine Science with a specialty in Thoroughbred Racing Management. During her time at Morrisville, she spent many hours in their state of the art rehabilitation center working with the thoroughbreds and client horses sent to the school. She spent two summers working at the rehab center, working on many different breeds with many different ailments. This is where she found her passion for equine rehabilitation. After graduation Tory moved to Lexington, KY to work part time for Dr. Larry Bramlage at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. During this time she also worked at a thoroughbred breeding farm with mares and foals, and was a groom for a trainer at Keeneland. Tory went on to work as an assistant trainer at Keeneland winter of 2017, before taking a job in the rehab barn at New Vocations where she worked with hundreds of Thoroughbreds coming straight off the track for the next year and a half. In fall of 2018 Tory purchased 30 acres in Versailles, and built Maddox Stables to pursue combining her passion for horse racing and rehabilitation. Tory is also a huge advocate for OTTBs and racing aftercare, she competed in 2017 at the RRP's Thoroughbred Makeover on her horse Feisty Elmo and plans on returning in 2020 with her New Vocations adopted horse Presidential Oath.
